Vincent Van Gogh seems to have been full of both enormous melancholy and enormous love. His affections for Kee Vos-Sticker bled into his next love, and regardless of any love that might have bloomed on Sien Hoornik’s own merit, in the end Van Gogh was unable to force himself to settle into the domesticity built between them.
